Recycled Rainbow 2008 Meet ‘n Greet
by everyman on Dec.03, 2007, under Recycled Rainbow
It was pure MAGIC!
Started promptly at 2pm and went right on until the wee hours of the morning.
The energy, the food, the people, the art, the entertainment… we just can’t do anything on a small scale, can we???
This was the most attended kick off meeting / party we ever had. In fact, I think the attendance is usually 5 people, and we call it “martini monday.”
This is definitely a “get ‘er done” class of people.
The passion was unprecedented (never losing our sense of humor.)
The discussions were productive, not argumentative.
We asked intelligent questions, figured out how to handle ticket sales, and determined exactly who we need to follow up with in terms of next year’s location (and many ways how.) We also have a much better idea of next year’s theme. Those were all really awesome suggestions!
The rest of the day was filled with fun, food, and FIRE ART! I swear there were more fireworks at this kickoff meeting than we had at Recycled Rainbow itself!
I admit it was extremely cold, but I loved how we all stuck together and did what we could to get through it.
We all got personally closer this weekend. I feel so much more connected to each of you, feeling more and more like you’re my family.
The “evening-turned-night” festivities in the living room were perhaps the most surreal it ever got…. (though having shitloads of fireworks with poi dancing in the snow was admittedly bizarre! Um….fire art in the garage is pretty insane too….)
I’m not referring to the burning man documentary we watched later on, but of course, BALLOONAGEDDON!!!! That was the perfect “immediate experience” if there ever was…. and was so f’n tripped out!
I can’t believe what one can do with propane and a long plastic tube….
Red, so glad you made it! Hadn’t seen you in a million years.
Oh, the treadmill is in our livingroom for now. Thank you for letting us have it. Now we have no excuse …. except laziness…. actually that’s a pretty good excuse, but I’ll try my best not to use it.
Ron, thanks so much for all the christmas light donations to EVERYONE!
Oh, and GLOWSTICK WARS!
And surreal conversations in the kitchen about noodle intolerance….NOODLES MAKE A COME BACK!
And games of Hangman….
And SWAMP ASS!
Thank you so much Starlie, William, Geri, and Cheyenne for once again letting us host an event in your beautiful home. I much appreciated the Java Mama ass-kicking coffee in the morning and the traditional Sir William Sunday Morning Pancakes. You’re an extremely hospitable group of people to let us crazies crash at your place.
Good seeing everyone again, and meeting some of the friendly new faces. If they have myspace accounts, I hope they add me!
Can’t wait for the next gathering.
Recycled Rainbow 2008 preparation has officially begun!
